About FC Designs

First of all, welcome to Freis Cavell Designs!

You're probably wondering, "What kind of a name is Freis Cavell anyway?" Well, it's simple. As a tribute to my parents I've combined their middle names. My father, Hans "Freis" Thompson (pronounced Fritz), and my mother, Edith "Cavell" Thompson (named after the historical nurse from the early 1900s, Edith Cavell). 

Freis Cavell Designs was born as an extension of my hobby interests, web design and crafting.

I've been crafting since I was a pre-teen which has given me, not to divulge my age, about 40 years of experience.

My craft interests are eclectic and expand daily with new techniques, ideas, products, and knowledge.

Getting to my web design skills ... well ... I would say my skills began as a graduate of desktop publishing and design. As a graduate I obtained a position at a local newspaper in production as an advertising designer/layout person. After a few years the newspaper offered web space and web design to its customers. Being the top ad designer I was asked to extend my skills into web design.

I laugh now when I compare my earlier development to what I have trained myself to this date. I knew almost nothing about web design and the use of html.

I was employed not long ago as an Internet Technician - Development, in layman's terms, a web page developer, at an area technical college as a member of their web team. Unfortunately due to budget cuts in the educational field after the 9-11 incident, my position was eliminated. I was a free spirit, so to speak. My hobby interests overflowed into creating bath and body products and I found I loved it so much I've continued their creation even after going back to a full-time job.

So, what were originally hobbies, are now a way of life. And, I enjoy them both. What could be better?
