Editing Help

After I edit one label in the template page just the way I like it is there a way I can duplicate it without altering each and every template?

Grouping Objects

Rule #1 - Always save a backup copy of your original template document. After you've saved your original document resave the document with a new name, this will be the document that displays your edited labels, so name it something that will be familiar to you.

Publisher 2000 & 2003 - To group your edited label so all the elements of your label remain intact, left-click your mouse and hold the button down. Drag your mouse starting outside your label at the bottom right corner dragging up to the top left corner. This will select all of the elements of your label. Now you can either right-click your mouse and choose "Group Objects" or click on the object that appears as two puzzle pieces disconnected. Once you click on the puzzle pieces, they will appear connected.

Next, follow the same procedures as above on the labels you want removed from your page. You can group an entire row of labels to speed things up if you like. Once your objects are all grouped, click on the delete key, right-click your mouse and choose "Cut" or "Delete" or "Ctrl-X" on your keyboard. Viola! Your labels are gone.

Now, click on your edited/finished label which is still grouped and right-click and choose "Copy" or "Ctrl+C" on your keyboard. Once you have copied you can now paste by right-clicking with your mouse and choosing "Paste" or "Ctrl+V" on your keyboard. You can now "Paste" again and again until you have the number of labels that will fit on your page. You can drag the grouped labels around by left-clicking on your mouse, hold, and drag to the location you wish it to be. Be sure to keep your moved labels within the print margins of 1/2" from paper's edges. If you go beyond this point parts of your labels will not print on the page.

PrintMaster & Print Shop - The procedures here are entirely the same as Publisher with the exception of instead of choosing "Group Objects" you will choose "Group".

Word 2003 - To group objects in Word 2003 you must click on each individual element in your label by holding down the "Ctrl" key while you click on each element. Once all the elements have been selected, right-click inside the label and choose “Group”.
